Recommended Attire: What To Wear to Dance Class!
At Dreamlight, we do not require students to purchase specific brands or colours of dance attire/footwear, nor do we require students to buy their dancewear from a specific store. You are free to select the brand, colour, and purchase location of your choice!
At dance class, students must wear appropriate clothing for the style they're enrolled in. All clothing must be safe to move in. Students wearing inappropriate or unsafe clothing (pants too long that pose a trip hazard, shoes too big to stay on, etc.) will not be permitted to participate until the clothing situation is rectified.
We know it's an investment, but purchasing the appropriate footwear is important not only for safety but also for an ease in executing movements. Socks are too slippery and barefoot is not recommended.

For Tutus & Tiaras, Tiny Tots, Ballet & Jazz Classes:
A leotard, tights, and ballet slippers or jazz shoes are recommend. Tutus & tiaras are optional but more than welcome! Hair should be pulled away from face in a ponytail or bun.
For Hip-Hop Classes:
Casual, comfortable dress (i.e. t-shirt and shorts) is perfect. Indoor running shoes with scuff-free soles are recommended. Hair should be pulled away from face.
For Jazz Funk Classes:
A leotard and tights, or leggings and a fitted t-shirt are recommended. Jazz shoes and/or indoor running shoes with scuff-free soles are recommended (although some movements will be harder in running shoes). Hair should be pulled away from face.
For Contemporary Classes:
A leotard and tights, or leggings and a fitted t-shirt are recommended. Ballet slippers or foot paws (or similar) are recommended. Hair should be pulled away from face in a ponytail or bun.
For Tap + Jazz Classes:
A leotard and tights, or leggings and a fitted t-shirt are recommended. Tap shoes and Jazz OR Ballet shoes are required to be brought to every class (although some classes may not use both pairs of shoes). Hair should be pulled away from face in a ponytail.
Come & Dance With Me Classes:
For little ones, a leotard, tights, and ballet slippers are recommend. Tutus & tiaras are optional but more than welcome! Hair should be pulled away from face in a ponytail or bun. For accompanying adults, you can wear comfortable clothing of choice. Footwear can be a dance shoe, an indoor scuff-free running shoe, or socks that have grips on the bottom.

Dress according to the dance style you're currently working on in class. Combo classes are usually Jazz from Sept-Dec, Hip-Hop from Jan-March Break & Contemporary from March Break-June.
